Papaya Enzyme Mask
Papaya contain proteolytic (protein dissolving) plant enzymes called papain, that dissolve the top layer of dead skin cells and old scar tissue trapped in the pores. It is an ideal treatment for acne. Â The enzymes stimulate new cell turnover while digesting and removing the old impacted proteins in the pores, allowing the skin to regenerate again, improving skin texture and appearance.
It contains Pro-vitamin A and Vitamin C, making it a great source for rejuvenating and protecting from free radical damage.
Green Tea is another great source of antioxidants and is good at evening skin tone. It can be combined with banana, rice flour and kiwi fruit for a mask or cooled tea bags can be applied to areas of dark skin and left for 15 minutes.
Generally, avoid papaya enzymes if you have a mango or kiwi fruit allergy or have latex allergies. Papain or vegetable pepsin can affect tight junctions and is not advised for people with eczema. Caution still needs to be applied for those with a lot of skin sensitivities.
The goal of enzyme masks is to clean out the pores and get your skin rejuvenating on its own. The rate of regeneration and ability to heal will be different for everybody.
